What she says: I’m fine.

What she means: Yes, fine, Bitty SHOULD call home but that’s not all on him. His mother is calling but is she leaving messages? Couldn’t she have texted something to Bitty just to de-escalate his fear? If she knows her son so well then she should know that he’s possibly freaking out. And don’t get me started on Coach. Call your mama? SIR YOUR SON IS WORRIED SICK! Just acknowledge that something big happened and set a time to talk! Plus is calling during the biggest party of the year really the best time to talk? No…go to bed Suzanne, get your head together and be the grownup…

hey man I don’t personally pay for new episodes of Steven universe either but if the show doubled it’s hiatus and then came out with an episode that was mainly a flashback and half the length of a regular episode id complain about that too. N makes thousands off patreon and has a book deal this comic is literally her job.

knightduan:

again……..ngozi has been v transparent with everyone about why the hiatus has been longer than usual, this is not information that came out of the blue and she even told everyone ahead of time that this would be a short update. also in the notes of said update she said that check please would be updating on mondays…….so it’s not like you have no idea when you’re gonna get new content again. also i’m sorry if you didn’t like the content of the update but like?? idk what 2 tell u my guy, there are episodes of my favorite shows i don’t like either that’s just life !

but sincerely i don’t know what the fuck you guys are imagining about what ngozi does on hiatus that “this is literally her job” is one of the most common arguments against her??? she isn’t laying out in a bed made out of stacks of all the money she makes from us, sipping $1000 champagne out of a crystal glass and cackling about how she bamboozled us out of $5 a month. she is uhhhhh working the entire time? i have maybe heard her twice mention in the past few years where she took time away from herself that wasn’t a holiday. also lets bear in mind that she isn’t doing this by herself anymore, there are people she’s paying (her manager george, johel who does her flats now, and she doesn’t get into every single convention for free either!!!) on top of the fact that yes! she has a book deal! which also means she’s no longer only answering to herself, and has more than one singular focus like literally every other person in her industry

but going back to the transparency. she told us she waited so long this time so that she could have a backlog of comics to, like i said in my reply on my post, keep a steadier update schedule bc – again, like i said – she has a lot going on this year, and that would have created gaps between batch updates that ppl would have inevitably complained abt like they always do

ngozi is by no means a perfect content creator but the coffee straws you guys grasp at when you complain about these things is frankly just embarrassing for you and infuriating to those who recognize how hard she actually works to make all of us happy. i’ve never in my life felt more seen and heard by a content creator than i have with ngozi and it really is unfortunate that this isn’t the case for you

i think. ok. like. john mulaney and the mcelroys aren’t actually that funny in terms of their improv/the quality of their jokes. there are people with much better written comedy sets and funnier improv, but the way that they deliver what they say it what makes it good. they could read the back of a shampoo bottle and you’d feel like you just heard a joke

this is part of the reason john mulaney gifs aren’t nearly as funny as videos of him. you cant explain why his horse in a hospital bit is funny unless you’ve actually heard him say “IT’S A ĤĤORSE. IN A H́OSPITAL”

This is a good example of people who ARE funny versus a joke being funny. a totally unfunny person can tell an actually funny joke and get a chuckle but a funny person could tell a bad joke and bust someone’s gut. It’s all about confidence and delivery and John and the McElroy’s have that shit down pat.

I always find it so funny when people bitch about ‘forced diversity’.

because, like, once you work retail you start to see just how different everybody is.

for example, the other day I greeted a woman I was ringing up and started asking her the usual questions we’re supposed to ask (if they have a rewards card, etc) and she made a gesture pointing to her ear and mouthed ‘I’m deaf’.

and I was just like ‘Oh’, and so I skipped over the questions and just gave her a nice smile instead of the usual schpiel we’re supposed to give. she thanked me in sign language and smiled back before walking away.

and that’s just one tiny example. she was just one customer of hundreds that shift. that’s not even mentioning all the other types of people I ring in a day, of all ages, body sizes, races/skin colors, and gender expression.

it’s like…that’s how the world is.

when people say having diversity in a fictional universe seems ‘false’ or ‘forced’, that says to me that they must exist in a very homogenous, sheltered environment. because even working for a company that has a rather disproportionately-high white middle-class customer demographic, I still see more diversity on any given day than I tend to ever see in books and movies and TV shows.

it’s just kind of laughable to me when people say a movie/book/franchise has “too much” diversity. because there’s no such thing.

When they say diversity is being ‘forced’ they are saying “It’s bad enough I have to tolerate your existence here in this world. I don’t want to have to ever think about you in a fictional one.”
