i’m sorry i just will literally never stop finding it tragically hilarious how adam, gansey, and ronan’s narration about each other always basically boils down to “these two… the most handsome and intelligent and talented people in the Entire World… have no reason to be friends with Me, a Literal Trash Can” no matter the context or tone of the scene

no but seriously this is really sad but the fact that it happens so frequently and with basically no prompting makes it kind of funny like

ronan: *puts any effort into anything ever*
gansey and adam: ronan lynch is a god among men, the most improbable and incredible creature ever to walk the earth, he could crush me with one hand and his cheekbones could slice off my entire face

gansey: *wrecks his clothes and hangs out in a pile of garbage*
adam and ronan: gansey is a prince and my king, he is so beautiful, so classy, he is the perfect human specimen and i love him more than life itself

adam: *breathes*
ronan and gansey: oh my god, amazing, how did you do that?? you’re better than this town you’re better than me you’re better than all of us, do you even know how talented you are? here take my wallet

meanwhile blue’s just like “yeah they’re okay or whatever, now back to MY story”

That one moment in TDT where Ronan pretends to be asleep to avoid Declan and tosses his leg over Adam’s lap just has so many layers to it. On the one hand Ronan is still stressed and repressed to a point where if he even breathes in the direction of his Gay Feelings™ he wants to light something on fire, but at the same time he sees Declan approaching and goes “aw shit I don’t want to talk to my annoying liar brother who nags me, but I also really want to irritate him…. oh I know I’ll nonchalantly sprawl all over Adam in a manner that implies a degree of physical familiarity I never exhibit with anyone, he’ll hate that implication for sure.” Plus the fact that Ronan is probably subconsciously looking for a reason to be in contact with an attractive boy despite how much he avoids the concept of being gay! It’s like a stylized matryoshka layer cake of gay repression and familial drama that’s eating its own tale and it’s just fascinating to watch unfold.
