I wasn’t asked to a single dance in high school and didn’t have a serious romantic relationship until I was 22. And like, yeah that shit hurt when I was younger. I had a lot of fears that I was unlovable and that I didn’t deserve to be happy. And every time I would try to talk to anyone about it, the conversation became, “you’ll find someone”, when it should have been, “you don’t need a relationship or a date, you’re lovable & complete & beautiful on your own”.
So yeah, please normalize young people not dating, and please stop shaming them for it. There’s more to life than romance, despite what the media wants us to think.

I’m gonna take this a step further and say I think we need to normalise being alone in general. Like you don’t have to pair off, ever. It’s not a requirement of life or adulthood or an indicator of success or failure. There isn’t like a point in life or an age where you should be with someone – that’s just bullshit. You’re not missing anything or doing something wrong if you don’t manage to end up in a long term relationship, and you don’t have to want one either.
I used to be afraid of ending up alone but I’ve reached the point where I just don’t give a fuck. I have friends and family and if I don’t ever end up married or in a long term relationship myself, I will be supportive of them and their spouses/partners. I will be that person your parents make you call ‘auntie’ because they are good friends. I will spoil everyone else’s children rotten and then hand them back. It’s gonna be a good life too.

N makes thousands off patreon and has a book deal this comic is literally her job.

but sincerely i don’t know what the fuck you guys are imagining about what ngozi does on hiatus that “this is literally her job” is one of the most common arguments against her??? she isn’t laying out in a bed made out of stacks of all the money she makes from us, sipping $1000 champagne out of a crystal glass and cackling about how she bamboozled us out of $5 a month. she is uhhhhh working the entire time? i have maybe heard her twice mention in the past few years where she took time away from herself that wasn’t a holiday. also lets bear in mind that she isn’t doing this by herself anymore, there are people she’s paying (her manager george, johel who does her flats now, and she doesn’t get into every single convention for free either!!!) on top of the fact that yes! she has a book deal! which also means she’s no longer only answering to herself, and has more than one singular focus like literally every other person in her industry
but going back to the transparency. she told us she waited so long this time so that she could have a backlog of comics to, like i said in my reply on my post, keep a steadier update schedule bc – again, like i said – she has a lot going on this year, and that would have created gaps between batch updates that ppl would have inevitably complained abt like they always do
ngozi is by no means a perfect content creator but the coffee straws you guys grasp at when you complain about these things is frankly just embarrassing for you and infuriating to those who recognize how hard she actually works to make all of us happy. i’ve never in my life felt more seen and heard by a content creator than i have with ngozi and it really is unfortunate that this isn’t the case for you

Burkitt’s lymphoma, stage 4a. It had spread into my brain and spinal column. 90% cure rate, but I needed nine months of chemo – and not the outpatient chemo, nope, talking multiple week stays per round of the magrath protocol. Drugs were about 10k an IV bag. I was unemployed. And there were complications.
Thankfully I live in a country with universal healthcare. And it didn’t cost me a goddamn cent to save my life. I’m now officially past the five year mark to move me from “remission” to “Cured”.
I’ve lived in a universal healthcare country my entire life. And I’ve seen the US system in action. Your system is fucked. Straight up fucked. You’ve got fucking Dickensian shit going on there, people dying on streets from preventable causes or ending up broke for breaking a hip. Your health insurance companies have you by the balls and people like you are begging them to squeeze harder. What the actual fuck is wrong with you?

You’re not feeding some imaginary pack of leeches, you’re paying forward on your own damned healthcare so you don’t have to argue with an insurance company while trying to heal.i also don’t get why americans can’t wrap their heads around the fact that universal healthcare is actually cheaper
